Physics-based action platformer

Deepest Sword is a free mobile adventure game from developer Fantastic Gamevers. It's a 2D physics-based action platformer wherein players will take on the role of a brave knight. They will dive deep into a dungeon in order to slay a dragon by piercing their sword straight into the creature's heart.

Similar to other titles like Stardew Valley or Dead Cells, Deepest Sword features vibrant pixel graphics to go along with its unique gameplay and humorous dialogue. Players will also need to overcome various platforming challenges before they reach their goal and face the dragon.

Deepen your resolve

In Deepest Sword, you play as a brave unnamed knight with a quest to slay a dragon residing in the Cavern of Longing. In order to vanquish the foul creature, you will need to pierce its heart. There's a catch though as it is located deep within its chest. So now you have to traverse a dangerous dungeon and find a way to reach your foe's weak point.

Enter your trusty giant sword, which just so happens, is able to extend itself. Handling it will be unwieldy, but it actually works itself out as you can't jump in the game at all. This is where the physics aspect of the game comes in. You'll rely on the momentum of your sword swings to propel yourself over obstacles and platforms to reach the dragon at the end.

You also have to contend with how much you need to extend the length of your sword. Too short, and you won't reach the dragon's heart. Too long will make it more challenging to gauge your swings and get around. Given all the odds you're up against, the gameplay will be too difficult for some, especially for those who are new to physics-based games.

Just keep swinging

If you like 2D platformers and want a good challenge, Deepest Sword is a title that you should try. From its quirky humor to its nice pixel graphics, and unique gameplay premise, there is a lot to like about the game. Some will find it too difficult and shy away from it. While others will welcome it. Either way, it is worth giving it a go. Recommended.
